Dental Insurance
Helping You Save Big By Maximizing Your Benefits
Our team at Song Dental is more than happy to maximize your dental insurance benefits and save you from out-of-pocket costs. Many of our patients have insurance, but they don’t want to deal with the hassle of utilizing it, which leads to them missing out on important preventive appointments, like their bi-annual checkups and cleanings. To help you get the most out of your investment in insurance and make visiting the dentist as hassle-free as possible, we’ve included some helpful information below.
Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
To help you better understand the basics about how dental insurance works, there are a few words that you’ll want to commit to your memory:
- Premium: The premium is the monthly or annual amount that you pay to receive your benefits.
- Deductible: The deductible is a set amount of money predetermined by your dental insurance company that you’ll need to pay out of your own pocket before your benefits will kick-in.
- Maximum: Your annual maximum is a capped-off amount that your dental insurance will pay for your treatments over the course of a calendar year.
- In-Network: If a dentist is in-network with your company, it means that they’ve negotiated discounted rates and fees with your plan.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
It’s important to keep in mind that no two dental insurance plans are made equally, which is why it’s a good idea to always contact your specific provider directly if you’d like to know whether they’ll cover a certain treatment. However, most plans determine coverage based on a 100-80-50 structure. This means that they’ll cover 100 percent of the cost of preventive care, like checkups and cleanings, 80 percent of basic treatments, like cavity fillings, and 50 percent of more invasive procedures, including tooth extractions. That’s why keeping up with your oral health is truly the best way to save money!
